Chi Epsilon Sigma—Santa Fe College’s community service student organization—is partnering with DKMS, an international nonprofit organization that helps blood cancer patients find a matching donor for life-saving bone marrow and stem cell transplants. DKMS has registered over 8 million potential donors worldwide through registration drives around the world. Chi Epsilon Sigma has recently joined this network and will hold their first donor drive on October 31st during Student Life’s Halloween event and Boo at the Zoo. If anyone is interested in getting involved with this initiative, they must attend a training session with DKMS on Friday, October 26th from 12-1 pm in S-141. Education is a critical aspect of donor recruitment, so the training will focus on outreach and education for potential donors to help them understand the commitment they are making. - Donor Drive Training: October 26th from 12-1 pm in S-141
- First Donor Drive: October 31st from 9:30-1:30 and 1:30 to 7:30
Students wishing to join our efforts can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for the training and provide their availability on October 31st. Because the drive is an all-day event, students can choose shifts based on their availability. I’ve attached additional literature about DKMS to this message.
