CES Alternative Spring Break 2019

CES Alternative Spring Break 2019:

Refugee Resettlement

in Jacksonville, Florida

Monday, March 4 – Wednesday, March 6, 2019

A team of volunteers from Santa Fe College will partner with Catholic Charities of Jacksonville’s Refugee Resettlement Program, which helps refugees find housing, work, school, and assistance as they adjust to a new language and culture. Three agencies in Jacksonville help resettle and reunite thousands of refugees annually from countries including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Cuba, Iraq, and Syria. Many were forced to flee their homes because of persecution due to their race, religion, or political affiliation, and have endured immeasurable loss and trauma. The volunteers will help ease the transition for new residents by setting up housing, collecting donations, and assisting with core services during the week of spring break.
