August 2, 2020, 9:21 a.m.– Santa Fe College administration and the SF Emergency Management team met throughout the weekend tracking Tropical Storm Isaias to see what impacts it may have on the Santa Fe College service district of Alachua and Bradford counties. At the 8 a.m. Sunday advisory, the National Hurricane Center is reporting that Isaias is located off the coast of south Florida and has sustained winds of 65 mph and is moving northwest at 8 mph.
At the current track, there is expected to be minimal disruption to the area, with the possible exception of storm surge along the St. Johns River. With limited onsite operations for students, faculty and staff, the college has no plans to alter Monday’s schedule. Any student who travels to the college from a potentially vulnerable area and is concerned for their safety should contact their instructor.
Although the current track of the storm may limit its effect on the Santa Fe College service district, college officials stress that we should always remain vigilant, prepare necessary supplies and listen to the recommendations from the National Weather Service.
